Frome Museums and Art Galleries

(Frome, Somerset, England, UK)

A small market town with a surprising amount of history, Frome is home to its very own museum, where the town's interesting fabric industry is clearly documented. The museum is located in the town centre itself, just across from Willow Vale, and is housed within a particularly iconic and distinctive building, renowned for its striking architecture. A recent addition to the exhibits at the Frome Museum is a section devoted to one of the town's most famous locals, Formula One champion Jenson Button, who is best known to locals as the 'Frome Flyer'.

Also in the town centre is the Black Swan Guild, which is home to a wealth of arts and crafts, many of which have been created by local Somerset artists. Highlights at the Black Swan Guild not only include paintings, but also some interesting contemporary photographs and sculptures, unusual handmade jewellery and various workshops, such as willow weaving, pottery and on occasion, even wirework sculpting.
